What is a Digital Nomad?

Digital nomads are remote workers/business owners who leverage technology (ie: computers) and telecommunications systems (ie: WiFi) to perform their jobs. Essentially, it is a person who works online or operates a business remotely while traveling. Many digital nomads live abroad and travel to various foreign countries versus working from a permanent physical location such as an office.

Is Becoming a Digital Nomad Right For Me?

Imagine sitting on a lanai overlooking the ocean while working on your laptop. Sounds inviting right? The digital nomad lifestyle can be quite alluring depending on the type of work you want to do and the country you’re considering. As with anything, you have to take stock within.  For example, if you prefer working around people and feeding off of the daily interactions with co-workers, you may have a hard time grappling with the feelings of loneliness that can come with being a digital nomad. 

Here are a few questions to consider:

  • Do you enjoy working independently?
  • Are you good at trouble-shooting?
  • Do you adapt well to new environments?

If you answered yes, you are well on your way.  

How Do I Get a Job as a Digital Nomad?

One positive thing that has come out of the pandemic, is that you are no longer limited to the typical jobs of most digital nomads like virtual assistant, copywriter and transcriptionist.  Now, you can look for work in virtually any profession without short-changing your career aspirations.
