Deirdre Amola: Balance in Bali

Play episode

Have you ever had times in your life when your spirit has called you to do something and you listened? Deirdre Amola felt that calling and it led her to leave the hustle and bustle of the corporate world for the balance she longed for in Bali, Indonesia.

Deirdre is a proud alumna of Florida A&M University and The University of Chicago Booth School of Business where she gained her MBA. She has extensive corporate experience having worked at Chevron Corporation and The Boston Consulting Group, but she left it all behind to follow her dreams of combining her passions of travel and entrepreneurship.

Today she lives in Bali and owns Black Travel Fest, a company focused on curating epic group travel experiences around the world for the melanated professional. In addition to this, she’s actively creating pathways to help those who are looking to move abroad make the transition.

Deirdre’s Blaxit Blueprint

1. Dare to Dream: Deirdre knew at the pace she was going, her lifestyle was out of balance.  Even though she had been an avid traveler, a trip to Bali turned her life around for the better.

2. Turning Passion into Profit: Deirdre’s love of travel ultimately became the foundation Black Travel Fest which helps travelers across the diaspora escape the pressures of everyday life to come live their best lives in exotic locations.

3. Learning to Pivot: COVID-19 has had a significant impact on her travel business.  Without skipping a beat, Deirdre has embraced online instruction by offering a series of Masterclasses ranging from helping people move abroad to creating a successful travel business.
